Feeling nervous about your next session of D&D? Afraid you aren't prepared enough to run tonight's game? Had to call a break early so you could google for help while everyone patiently waits for the game to resume? Worried your players can sense you fear and will tear you limb from limb? Thinking about taking the plunge into dungeon mastering but overwhelmed about where to start?
Welcome to the Imposter DM. You've come to the right place for some quick and dirty tips for running a game on the fly, as well as some customization ideas for the more ambitious DM, looking to spice up their game. Here you can find simple and easy-to-run encounters, marvelous magic items, and notable NPCs to populate your world. You might also hear some success stories -- and failures too -- from yours truly.
Why should you listen to me? Because I'm an imposter DM too. I know what it's like to show up to a session unsure whether you've planned enough... I also know what it's like to show up KNOWING you haven't planned enough. It's okay, you can salvage it no matter how bad it gets. Take a breath, compose yourself, and let's start some triage.
Every DM has their own style, and every group has its own dynamic; nevertheless I am confident you will find something here that helps you on your own journey of improvement as a DM.
